Overview

An 11-day safari and beach trip with a difference, that combines one of the last true wilderness areas in Zimbabwe with a luxury beach escape in Mozambique. The trip starts with 5 nights safari in Gonarezhou National Park in the south-east corner of Zimbabwe to experience big-game viewing, expert guiding and a truly wild experience. Then after a night at the stunning Peech Hotel in Johannesburg, relax for 4 nights on the pristine beaches and in the crystal-clear waters of Vilanculos.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrive in Harare and fly to Gonarezhou National Park

Upon arrival in Harare, you will be met and directed to your internal flight southeast to Gonarezhou National Park. A little-visited but stunning park of 5000 square kilometres dominated by the 13km Chilojo Cliffs and dotted by just a handful of safari camps that get to explore one of the last true wilderness left in Africa. Some of the last big tuskers still roam this ancient land along with lions, cheetah, wild dogs, hyena, buffalo, hippo and giraffe. You are staying at Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge for the next five nights on a full board and activities basis. The lodge's 10 chalets occupy an elevated position affording views of the Save River below and the surrounding landscape.

Day 2-5

On safari in Gonarezhou

You have four incredible days on safari from Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge. The lodge has a strong conservation focus which stems from the owner and expert professional guide Clive Stockil, you will experience this conservation-minded approach throughout the activities and attitudes of the guides working at Chilo Gorge. As well as game drives in the national park traversing the varied landscape in search of wildlife you also have the choice to do walking safaris, village visits, short boat trips (water-level dependant) and perhaps some fishing.

Day 6

Fly to Johannesburg

After your last safari activity at Chilo Gorge, you will be transferred by road to the local airstrip. You'll fly on a light aircraft back to Harare airport. Connect to your international flight to Johannesburg, an interesting city in South Africa. Upon arrival in Johannesburg you will be greeted by a Wayfairer representative for your private transfer to The Peech Hotel. You stay here for one night in a classic room with breakfast included. The local area, Melrose, is home to excellent shopping and dining opportunities, while the on-site bistro is an award-winning restaurant and currently only open to guests of the hotel. An eco-chic hotel, The Peech Hotel was formerly a private residence until it was revamped to become one of Johannesburg's best boutique hotels.

Day 7

Fly to Mozambique's Beach

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at The Peech Hotel before a private transfer to Johannesburg airport in time for your direct flight to Vilanculos, Mozambique. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the Santorini Mozambique team and transferred to the boutique villas. Your stay here is for four nights, in a suite on a fully inclusive basis. This ideal location allows you to not only explore the vibrant town of Vilanculos but also the picturesque gateway to the Bazaruto archipelago. This stunning seaside Greek-villa style property, just 20 minutes north of Vilanculos, boasts unparalleled views of seas and pristine shores from its elevated position. Lush coastal vegetation provides a sense of privacy and a colour contrast to ocean blues and white sands. An elegant ambiance flows throughout communal and private living spaces and a range of light, fresh accommodation is available. Day 8-10

Enjoy the coast from Santorini Lodge

You have the following three full days to enjoy your suite, Santorini Lodge and the beautiful surrounding landscape. You might just like to relax in the luxury of your private suite complete with far-reaching views, a comfortable lounge, air-conditioning and a private deck with sun-loungers for soaking up some rays. For those who to keep active, there are lots of activities included during your stay including kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, snorkelling equipment is available as well as beach volleyball and cricket sets to use. Available at an additional cost are horse-riding excursions, scenic helicopter trips, deep-sea fishing, kite surfing and scuba diving.
