7-Day Luxury Namibia Desert and Safari

7-Day Luxury Namibia Desert and Safari

Overview

The landscape is Namibia's defining natural asset. People use many words to describe it: vast, endless, magnificent, unimaginable, but mainly spiritual. These words do not do Namibia's attractions justice. There's simply no frame of reference, nothing comes close to seeing the sunset over the Sossusvlei desert sands, spending the day playing along the beaches of Swakopmund or visiting the indigenous Himba people in Damaraland, let alone the wildlife, big game and safari. Prepare to be astounded.

    Day 1-3

Sossusvlei Desert at Little Kulala Lodge
Arriving at Windhoek Airport, you will be met and assisted to your light aircraft transfer to the camp of Little Kulala in Sossusvlei. Here you will find the iconic red sand dunes of Namibia where the clear blue skies contrast with the giant red sand dunes, making this one of the natural wonders of Africa and a photographer's dream. Aside the spectacular dunes at Sossusvlei; Dune 45, Hiddenvlei, Big Daddy and Deadvlei, other attractions include visiting the Himba tribe, Sesriem Canyon, and Namib-Naukluft National Park, where the mountains of the Namib Desert meet the plains. Enjoy guided quad biking, hot air balloon safaris and scorpion night walks! Little Kulala describes itself as an organic camp making use of neutral colours, gorgeous textures and natural light to reproduce the soothing pastel tones of the desert. The interiors are adorned with pure linens, cotton and mohair dyed with natural vegetable dyes, creating a mood of cool serenity within the confines and views of luxury.

    Day 4-6

    Ongava Private Game Reserve
Immersed in the African Mopani bush, Ongava Tented Camp is a natural extension of this wild and wonderful landscape. The classic safari-style camp is tucked away in a hidden valley at the foot of a dolomite hill within Ongava Game Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents all have en-suite facilities, open-air showers and private verandas; and where the family unit can sleep four. The main area, built of stone, canvas and thatch, fronts onto a much-frequented waterhole; where one can watch the wildlife drinking or cool off in the swimming pool. Ongava’s proximity to Etosha allows for game drives in the Etosha National Park and the Ongava Reserve itself. Other possibilities include guided walks, birding and visiting strategically placed hides. Ongava is one of the largest rhino custodianships for the Namibian government in the country, and one of the few private game reserves in southern Africa where guests can see both black and white rhinos.
