4-Day Olifants River Safari

Overview

Don't miss this rare opportunity to enjoy the serene wilderness of the majestic Olifants River from the comfort of a unique safari lodge. The river views from your room and animal and bird sightings during the boat cruise are unforgettable. A bush braai and afternoon safari in an open safari vehicle are also included. The second half of the tour takes us into Kruger National Park where we'll spend another night after a full day safari with an experienced Khalanga Safaris nature guide.

Itineraries

Day 1

Panorama Route Tour and arrival in Greater Kruger

You will begin our tour with a shared shuttle transfer, departing OR Tambo Airport at 7:40 am (later times are available). Crossing 3 provinces, you will make our way to the Northern Drakensberg Escarpment and visit some of the scenic sights of Panorama Route, such as the 3 Rondavels and Blyde River Canyon. Reaching our destination near Phalaborwa in the late afternoon, we'll make the most of the last hours before sunset to check into our spacious and comfortable rooms.

Day 2

Olifants Boat Cruise, Afternoon Game Drive and Bush Braai

After a restful night in your beautiful river view room, you'll start your safari boat cruise which takes you all the way upriver with many more animal sightings in the early morning hours while you enjoy your breakfast on board. Birding is excellent, with the opportunity to see many rare species such as the white-backed night heron but also other animals on the riverbank, including the Big Five. Just before lunchtime, we will return to the lodge (lunch not included) and you can spend some time at the pool or at the veranda of your room, relaxing and enjoying the river views. In the afternoon, the professional nature guide takes you on a guided safari of the huge reserve bordering Kruger on the open safari vehicle. We will then offer you a scrumptious bush braai on the river bank by the light of the campfire.

Day 3

Full Day Kruger Park Safari

It's time to say goodbye to the Olifants River. We will check out in the early hours of the morning and proceed to the nearest Kruger National Park gate to start our full-day safari with professional and experienced Khalanga Safaris nature guides. Our guide's knowledge of the African bush is amazing and you will enjoy many animal sightings even before breakfast, which is prepared by your guide en route at a picnic spot or at the rest camp. We will spend the entire day in search of the animals of Kruger National Park, making our way south all the way to Satara where we'll be spending the night in rustic twin ensuite chalets. Dinner is prepared by your guide, lunch is available at one of the rest camp's restaurants where we will be making a stop around lunchtime.

Day 4

Morning Game Drive and Return to OR Tambo

After an early start, we will enjoy our last game drive towards the western part of the park, where we'll leave Kruger behind and return to Hoedspruit. You will return by shared shuttle to OR Tambo, where you will end your safari at around 5.00 pm in time for an evening international flight. We hope to see you back again soon!
